Henry William Bunbury Caricature Portrait WatercolourHenry William Bunbury 1750 1811 Caricature portrait of a Gentleman in Court Dress. Watercolour and ink drawing Circa. 1790. 12. 5 by 10 cms. Provenance: James Hall Collection. Bunbury was a prolific Illustrator and draughtsman, a contemporary of Rowlandson and Gillray. Like them he was also well known as a designer of satirical prints. From a landed family, he was educated at Westminster and Cambridge. He was an Honorary exhibitor at the Royal Academy
he produced plates of contemporary costume as well as genre pictures of family and classical scenes
