This is one of Joe's highly regarded bench made reels
The rod appears to be correct and unaltered
and close attention to all of the details
Cigar grip appears to have been unhandled
The reel comes with what appears to be its original leather case in good condition (the strap has become detached but can be sewn back on easily enough)
For sale here is a 2 1/2â" diameter Hardy Bronzed Crank Wind reel from the early 1890s with nicely waisted crank handle and tapered
You can find a similar McMonies creel on Page 81 of the book "The Art of the Creel"
